Erica's Story

Sanchez Hawkins Fine Jewelers was started by a young girl who loved gemstones. As she got older, Erica wanted to keep the stones closer to her, so she began making silver wrapped jewelry. She soon discovered that she wanted to learn as much as she could about anything related to gemstones and jewelry and sought out opportunities for apprenticeship as a goldsmith. She soaked it up like a sponge and enrolled in the Gemological Institute of America.

She worked in a few local jewelry stores, and continued her education. After earning her Graduate Gemologist title in the spring of 2000, she applied for membership in the prestigious American Gem Society, eventually earning the title Certified Gemologist Appraiser (CGA) in 2009. There are approximately only 450 CGA's in America today and only 20% of them are goldsmiths.  In 2015 she was one of three winners of the Centurion Emerging Designer Award.
